Since 1847, on the same site
Casa Moreira’s head office has stood on the same site since 1847, and is closely linked to the founding of the Associação de Banda de Música de Moreira da Maia.

How long has Casa Moreira been established?
Casa Moreira has been established since 1847, when Domingos José Moreira (“o Clara”) founded what was then “Casa de Armação Moreira”. It has remained on the same site in Moreira da Maia ever since.
Where is Casa Moreira?
Our head office is at Rua Mestre Clara, 403, Moreira, 4470-587 Maia. We also have a branch in Gueifães, a warehouse in Nogueira, and a chapel in Cabanelas, Lavra — Matosinhos.

Yes. Casa Moreira is an independent funeral home (Agência Funerária Secular Casa Moreira, Lda.), one of the oldest still operating in Portugal.

We arrange funerals in full: collection and transfer, lying in state, funeral services, cremation, repatriation, burial and exhumation, funeral notices, and prepaid funeral plans.

Why is Casa Moreira considered a historic funeral home?
Because we have operated without interruption since 1847, always under the same family, on the same founding site, and because we were at the origin of the Banda de Música de Moreira da Maia. We are also known as the “Casa do Mestre Clara”.
